A new vacancy is available for a Principal Designer / CDM Consultant to join an established Civil and Structural Engineering consultancy based in Northamptonshire.

The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 replaced the CDM 2007 Regulations on the 6th April 2015 with revised duty holder responsibilities and placed enhanced responsibilities on Clients. As the successful CDM Consultant you will provide a support service to ensure Clients comply with their legal responsibilities. A vast amount of this role will include preparing CDM (Construction Design Management) documentation, writing reports, attending meetings, responding to technical queries, reviewing designs, risk management and producing files/manuals so it is important that the successful Principal Designer is organised and has previous experience within the construction sector.

The CDM Coordinator role will be to work with a variety of high profile clients in London, the Midlands and the Home Counties. Candidates will ideally have or be working towards RMaPs and also a Professional Construction and Health and Safety qualification.

Principal Designer/CDM Consultant Role:-

Make suitable arrangements for managing a project including the allocation of sufficient time and resource.
Plan, manage and monitor the co-ordination of health and safety in the pre-construction design phase of the project
Ensure that the arrangements are maintained and reviewed throughout the project.
Ensure that a Health & Safety File is prepared for the project.
assist the Client with the project set up, identify, obtain and collate pre-construction information and distribute, advise on missing information, co-ordinate health and safety, ensure designers comply with their duties, liaise with the Principal Contractor, prepare the health and safety file or pass responsibility to the Principal Contractor
Production of a Health & Safety Policy & Procedures
Design team meetings and review the Principal Designers audit trail to ensure they are carrying out their duties under the CDM Regulations.
Ensure that Designers are complying with their obligations under CDM 2015 and implement audit procedures
Assist with the preparation of a Client's brief
Submit the Notification Form F10 to HSE if required
Assist with the appointment of competent duty holders
Assist with the collation of Pre-Construction Information and highlight the need for any additional required information
Confirm that a suitable Construction Phase Plan is in place to allow commencement of works on site
Confirm that suitable welfare facilities are in place to allow commencement of works on site.
Assist the Principal Designer with a suitable template for the Health & Safety File
