Lamonby Recruitment have an exciting new position for a Sales Engineer to join a leading manufacturer of components for the defence sector. The role is predominately internal, and the successful applicant will be based in the company’s Wellingborough office.
The successful Sales Engineer will be a professional, smart, eloquent and driven person who possess both technical and commercial skills. The successful candidate will have the ability to engage at any level, develop and build close relationships with both existing and new customers, be able to produce accurate and competitive quotes as well as fill out tenders and be able to source solutions to meet the needs of the customer.
The role will involve the occasional trip out to client’s offices, but predominately will involve fixed appointments, meetings and demonstrations for a core group of clients at the Wellingborough office.
You must be able to read technical engineering and fabrication drawings, so an engineering background is imperative. Ideally, you will be qualified to at least an HNC level in an Engineering discipline and will have 3+ years sales experience.
In return the successful Sales Engineer will be offered a starting salary of £35,000-£39,000 (Dependent on the individual’s experience and qualifications), 31 days a year (includes bank holidays) the holidays are fixed and are in line with the school terms dates. and a company pension scheme.
Any holiday that are already booked outside of these dates will be honoured.
Sales Engineer Role
Manage and interpret both new and existing customer requirements-to understand, anticipate and practically meet their needs.
Offer customers a product or service that best satisfies their needs in terms of technical specification, quality, price and delivery.
Provide pre-sales technical expertise and product education to new and existing customers.
Build and strategically foster relationships with key contacts and customers, to gain clear understanding of their business requirements and objectives, to ensure expectations are exceeded.
Proactively identifying and resolving customer concerns and issues.
Calculate accurate and competitive sales quotations and prepare tenders, proposals and technical documents to meet customer deadlines.
Follow up quotations in a timely manner to secure profitable orders.
Attend and actively contribute to Sales meetings to keep colleagues informed about customers etc.
Attend site visits and customer meetings in order to provide technical expertise and product clarification.
Role Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum 3 years sales background preferably
Ideally an engineering qualification such as an HNC, HND or Degree in Manufacturing, Material Science, Engineering or similar
A broad understanding of metal fabrication and methods of metal manufacture e.g. welding, machining processes etc
Be able to compile requests for quotations / tenders with pricing
Required to travel to existing customers and potentially new customers
Possess both technical and commercial skills

Sales Engineer Package
